Menucha’s 9th annual Ukulele Band Camp! Camp dates are March 25-29, 2019.

Here’s a note from our camp’s artistic director, Marianne Brogan:

Most of you know some of the teachers, and I would like to introduce you all to Tracy Kim. Tracy is an instructor and musician from Portland. He has a resumé in education and performance far too long for me to put in this email. One of his specialties is teaching improvisation and soloing in the style of Django Reinhardt. I have had the distinct pleasure of being in his easy swing class this year with ukuleles and guitars learning to improvise. He’s a fun and engaging teacher.

Marcy Marxer and Cathy Fink are two outstanding banjo, guitar, and ukulele teachers long known in bluegrass and folk music circles, as well as swing. Winners of many music awards and they take great pleasure in teaching ukulele.

Aaron and Nicole Keim (The Quiet American) will join us again to teach us singing and harmony, finger-style ukulele and old time folk songs, folk dance and history.

I’m also happy to announce that Ohana Music has agreed to loan us a few Ohana acoustic basses, and Matt Weiner (our bassist) will teach a bass class for an hour each day to those interested.

Nova Devonie will be on hand again filling out our rhythm section on accordion and offering coaching for the secret accordion ukulele players out there.

It’s another stunning faculty!

– Marianne Brogan
