Newk Lesson #10, July 6, 2017

Covered so far:
Chords:
A, A7,  Am, ( Am7) Bb, C, C7, (Cm), (Cm6), D, Dm, D7 open, D7 barred or closed, E7, F, G, G7, Gm.
Strums:
single, double, Chattanooga, Calypso, and intro to waltz; a bit of “chunking”.

This week, we’ll work on the “twins”: Em and B7.  The shape of these two chords is the same, just in adjacent strings on the fretboard.  Once your fingers are working as a unit to form the shape, it is just a matter of “hopping” that unit .  Makes more sense to do than to talk about!
Download “Donna Donna” to learn these.  Also, download Sea of Love for more work with B7  and They Call the Wind Mariah for more Em (both of these are 5-chord songs, but you know the other chords very well, and both are slow-paced for chord-changing).

If time, we’ll do an easy plucking pattern that I call “Inside-Outside”.  Please have Polly Wolly Doodle available for this.
