The chords are piling up, that you’ve learned! Go over this list and see if you know them: A, Am, A7, Bb, (B, too: just slide Bb up a fret) C (slide Bb shape up to the 3rd fret for another form of C), Cm, C7, D, D7, Dm, E7, Em, F, F7, Fm, G, G7, Gm. Remember, barred chords are movable chords. Which ones of these are barred? Also, closed chords are moveable chords, which one are closed? Which ones are open? This is repetitive, I know, but its a good way to refresh what you’ve learned. And, you can do some strums and plucking beyond the simple single and double strums: Chattanooga (aka Freight Train), Touch-Down, inside-outside plucking, and a first step toward reggae strum.
Last week, we learned Cm, reviewed inside-outside plucking pattern and incorporated strumming chords together with plucking. Sounded so good! We started into reggae strum, emphasizing the 2nd and 4th beats in a 4 beat pattern.
This week, we’ll go further into the reggae strum, so keep Three Little Birds available. We’ll learn Fm, please download I Only Want To Be With You. We’ll review inside/outside for Walkin’ In My Sleep, plus we’ll try the same pluck pattern for Shady Grove, pls download.
Please watch this old Youtube video of Ray Stevens, Along Came Jones. Believe it or not, it will help us learn the diminished chord shape! We will also use a sheet you downloaded back in October, “Diminished Chord Shapes On Ukulele” Diminished-Chord-Shapes-On-Ukuleles .
