Newk Lesson #20, March 23, 2017

What did we cover since early November?  These chords: A, Am, A7, Bb, B7, C, C7, D, Dm, D7, E7, Em, F, F7, G, Gm, Gm7, G7. (B, Bm, Cm, Fm were briefly shown).  The shapes of the diminished chords.  The basic chords in 4 keys: G, C, F, D.  Single strum, double strum, Chattanooga Strum, Calypso Strum, inside-outside picking, a bit of touch-down.  Mixing 2 different strum patterns together.  Adding in a plucking pattern to partner with the strummers.

This Thursday, we’ll do a little more reggae intro, and the chord melody intro.  That is more than enough!  Please download Three Little Birds.  Remember how Reuben “reggaefied” Bob Dylan’s I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight?  Let’s try doing that to Come Back Liza, please have that with you too.

And, we’ll pick up a bit of chord melody, so those same 6 sheets from last week’s lesson.

I am so happy to see you folks at the Thursday and Monday jams!  That’s where you pick up practice and retention; plus you may find more ease with singing and strumming  in those larger groups, as you get caught up in the wave!
