Newk Lesson #8, June 22, 2017

Covered so far: A, Am, F, C, C7, D, D7 bar and D7 open, G, G7, Gm. Strums: single, double, Chattanooga, Calypso.

More Calypso today with Washington, Washington: please download, unless you got a copy from me last week. It has 3 chords, so there will be more “brain exercise” going on than with Come Back Liza, but the calypso pattern is totally the same as you’ve been practicing, and the chords are easy: CFG7.  Some of you have had luck with that strum pattern by repeating it over and over at grocery stores, D DU UDU. Good on ya!

Onward with two new chords, one very simple (A7) and one a bit challenging: E7.  Download Kansas City to learn the A7, and Oh My Darlin’ Clementine  (a waltz: we’ll just use the single strum) to learn the E7.  If time, we’ll go on to Chains, which is a four-chord song: A, A7, D7, E7.
